Cade and Apu - having some morning playtime
Cade racked out from all the fun playtime with Apu!

Here's Cade posing for the camera. He thinks if he tries to look cute we'll stop trying to shove green beans into his mouth. It's his diversion technique that sometimes works.

Why is it that he'd always rather be all nudie? He loves it.

Our little cruiser

Cadeness is 9 months! Wow. What a lot of changes for our little Cade this month. Everyone told us that it was going to get more and more fun, and how right they were! Cade's little personality comes out more and more everyday and we are having such a fun time getting to know him. He has a few signs down and seems so pleased that we can communicate. He squeals with glee and his little eyes light up like a christmas tree when we respond to his outreach efforts. He's been waving hi and goodbye for a while now, but this month he's really gotten into it. He can also tell us when he wants more of something by waving both of his hands up and down really fast, palms down. It's great for when he's eating, or when daddy's throwing him up in the air, and he can tell us to keep bringing it on.

He is all over the place. Crawling, into everything, loving his toys, loving his food, loving life. We are having a BLAST with him. I'm a little sad that he's growing up so fast. I just can't believe how fast the months have flown by and wishing I could just bottle up his cuteness and hold onto it forever.

Some of his favorite foods include: Hummus, Cheese, Vanilla Yogurt, Mashed Potatos, Quinoa, Cheerios, Grapes, Strawberries Blueberries, and of course, still at the top of his food list...bananas. Anything green is a bit of a challenge and I have to mask it or add onions, or he has to be pretty hungry. If he doesn't like something, he gets very dramatic and literally makes a gagging face like he's trying to choke it back up. It's kind of funny. He is also getting very fast at finger-feeding himself, so much so, that he scoops food into his little mouth till its super full of food and can't keep up with all that he's managed to pack in there. Let's just say that we can't leave him unsupervised if there's a plate of cheerios in front of him ! He eats it like popcorn.

Some of his latest tricks include: giving people high five, low five, waving, cocking his head to the side and flashing us a broad and mostly gummy grin when he's sitting in his high chair (and trying to negotiate for more cheese, meanwhile ignoring the peas or beans or broccoli before him). He is also crusing around more confidently and loves to take one of my hands and walk laps around the house. Speaking of laps, one of his favorite games is when we chase him around the house, or when we pretend that he is chasing us. He also loves the classic peekaboo game and all it's variations. One of our favorites is when he pulls the towel up over his own head until we say "where's Cade?" and then he pulls the towel down and flashes us a smile as we say "there he is!" He laughs so hard when we pretend to chase him that he practically falls over on his side. And of course we can do this over and over and he thinks its hysterical. He also learned to clap and click his tongue.

We've also noticed that he is getting more and more interested in music, which has been really fun. We had a music theme playdate the other day and he loved listening to our Putomayo kids compilation and totally rocked out with his egg shaker, and also with his wooden spoons and the drum. He loves rhythm and bouncing up and down to the beat. He will then go to his xylophone and try to jam out with whatever we're listening to. He particularly loves samba and salsa music. On an aside, he especially loves our stairs (ay ay ay!) He loves to roll around mom and dad and loves to give us kisses all over our faces. We love it.

He weighs 23.1 pounds, is wearing 12-18 month clothes.

We love you Cade. Lately you've started to communicate with us using your own version of sign language. We think its hysterical and you seem so thrilled when we understand what you're trying to tell us. For example, when Daddy throws you in the air, you wave your arms up and down really fast..and that means " again!". You squeal with delight when we tickle you under your arms or play peekaboo, or blow raspberries on your tummy. We wish you could stay an infant! Don't grow up too fast, okay?

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
